ABOUT Mike Bliss

Mike Stead (AKA Mikes Bliss) is an emerging artist who has been described as the ?bastard child? of Roy Lichtenstein & Tom of Finland.

His work has a compositional simplicity that belies underlying complicated and sentimental narratives that invite viewers on journeys to catharsis. His main autobiographical elements, the artist?s psyche and emotions as much illustrated on each canvas as is his subject?s nudity, amplifies the participating intimacy Mike constantly demands of his audience. If his work can look easily achieved, even na?f, at first glance?what with its solid backgrounds, direct lines, and compositional simplicity, a second look reveals its underlying explorations of passion, lust, and sentimentality. His are truly erotic images of a passionate artist eager to share his interpretive sensuality with the world.

Having studied fashion in Edinburgh, Mike presently lives and works in west London; thanks to his father?s career in the Army, he was brought up in and exposed to various cities and cultures around the world. He has exhibited in group exhibitions in the UK and New York; he?s had three one-man shows in London.

ABOUT Peter Colstee

The artist has made his reputation by painting young men whose beauty and nakedness emphasizes their insecurities and loneliness in still having to take on the world. Boisterous, even tough, the youths of his canvases portray that inherent vulnerability and growing sexual/erotic awareness only found in the young.

Colstee was born in 1960 in Winterswijk, a small city in the east of the Netherlands near the German border. He grew up in Silvolde, a quiet village in the same region. Although drawing was his favorite hobby from an early age, he first attended the Teachers? College in Doetinchem before training three years at the Art Academy in Kampen. Since 1985 he has lived and worked in Arnhem.

Under the direction of Rob Scholte, he collaborated on one of the largest murals ("Huis den Bosch" Nagasaki, Japan) of the Twentieth Century. His artwork regularly appears in major exhibitions around the world and can be found within the private collections of a large number of discerning individuals..

ABOUT Johan Ekkel

The artist graduated from the Royal Academy of Art and Design in Den Bosch, the Netherlands, and for 20 years was an illustrator for advertising agencies, book and magazine publishers.

He won awards from the Netherlands Post Office (for his stamp designs), and from the Dutch Art Directors Club. His work is not only included in several U.S. and European private collections but has been successfully exhibited in London, Berlin, and Amsterdam.

Because he usually works with intensely colored oils and paints, Ekkel is, perhaps, best known for his ability to portray on board (always on board) the reality, sensuousness and uniqueness of "Mediterranean lighting".However, not to be forgotten are his superb drawings whose color palates are restricted to black-and-white on paper, with the ocassional splashes of color for contrast. [NOTE: Some of Ekkel's B&W drawings can be seen accompanying my short S&M / B&D stories at http://wwww.jardonnserotictales.com].

Under the direction of Rob Scholte, he collaborated on one of the largest murals ("Huis den Bosch" Nagasaki, Japan) of the Twentieth Century. His artwork regularly appears in major exhibitions around the world and can be found within the private collections of a large number of discerning individuals.
