The artist graduated from the Royal Academy of Art and Design in Den Bosch, the Netherlands, and for 20 years was an illustrator for advertising agencies, book and magazine publishers.

He won awards from the Netherlands Post Office (for his stamp designs), and from the Dutch Art Directors Club. His work is not only included in several U.S. and European private collections but has been successfully exhibited in London, Berlin, and Amsterdam.

Because he works with intensely colored oils and paints, Ekkel is, perhaps, best known for his ability to portray on board (always on board) the reality, sensuousness and uniqueness of "Mediterranean lighting".

"Pige" is the persona chosen by prolific online writer "Jardonn" for expressing himself via digital imagery, as opposed to the written word.

While many of Jardonn's written tales focus primarily on the erotic interrogation and torture of men, Pige's artwork invariably casts tormentors as caricatures and buffoons, which allows the hero to come out on top.

The author/artist's popular (especially with the S&M/B&D aficionado) web-site is home to what few Pige creations presently exist, as well as it's the most comprehensive archive for Jardonn's literary output.

The artist is from an Asian background with European upbringing. He uses traditional Asian materials and expressions to articulate western paradigm in an effort to bridge cultural and artistic differences.
